Easter chick

My 50 Wishes card was a winner at Paper Players this week…. Yay!!!  It’s very exciting to be chosen!

I thought I would show what we made at one of my stamp clubs last week.  It’s a little Easter treat hanger box.

I saw this idea from Andrea Walford here, but I changed the dimensions of it slightly so that we only had to use an A4 sheet of card.

I think everyone loved it and fell in love with the little chick from A Good Egg!  He’s so CUTE!

50 wishes

I was asked to make a birthday card for the librarian at my daughters’ school this week.  I saw a wonderful sketch challenge at Paper Players and decided to use that as my inspiration.

She was turning 50 and I could have put a big 50 on it, but decided against it.  I wanted to make it look special though so I thought I would do those lovely ribbon flowers again.  This time I used the 1” circle punch for one of the flowers so that I had 2 different sizes, as in the sketch.

The card was for all the staff at school to sign, so I felt a bit stressed about it.  Hopefully she liked it and the rest of the staff did too!

Ingredients :
Stamps : Sincere salutations
Card : regal rose, pip, pink pirouette, very vanilla, espresso, crumb cake
Ink : espresso, crumb cake, river rock
Other : big shot, finial press, polka dot, lots of tags, rhinestone brads, rhinestones, beautiful wings, wide oval punch, little leaves, pip satin ribbon, sticky strip, circle punches, thin espresso taffeta ribbon

My Think Pink card won another challenge at SUO Challenges this week too!  Very exciting!

Blog awards

I won the Colour Queen Courtier award for my Think Pink card last week.  It was such an honour because there were so many beautiful entries, the pinks and crumb cake combination must be a good one (or maybe I’m just partial to those colours?)

I was also given an award by Andrea at Enchantink last week, its called the Leibster Blog award.  I was very touched that she thought of me and my little blog.  Thanks so much Andrea.  She is very kind and I could very easily give the award back to her she has a wonderful blog if you’d like to check hers out too its here.

This blog award is given to “newish” blogs to encourage them and to help more people to find out about them.

I need to now pass this blog award onto some others and share some blog love. I have given them to blogs I love to visit that are newish or have less than 100 followers.

Mel Barkwith (Not sure how many followers Mel has, maybe it’s Gazillions it’s so good but I’ve given her one anyway. It’s a fantastic blog and maybe she doesn’t have that many followers?)

Julie Gearinger

Bronwyn Eastley (Only just sneaks into this category, but it’s a wonderful blog)

Zarna Gould

Check them out, they are all super talented and although I haven’t met them personally, I have met them “online” and they are all really lovely, helpful and caring people as well!

Partying ants

Well I had to come up with another birthday card for a 6 year old boy this week!  I found some great inspiration at Stampin’ Celebration where you have to use the colours or theme of this picture.  All those pinks, reds and browns and of course those CAKES, who could resist?
image
I did use a lot of pink, red and brown and cakes but it was looking a bit too “girly” for a 6 year old boy so I added old olive into the mix.  Hopefully that’s still okay for the challenge though, because the theme is definitely still there – cakes and celebrating!

I also found a new challenge site this week called Our Creative Corner and their challenge was to “cut it out”. So I came up with the idea to use the little ant from Bugs and Kisses and have them carrying the Birthday Bakery cakes on their backs. These cakes are actually on cake stands so I cut all the cakes out, minus the stands (and there are actually 6 different cakes – perfect!) and glued them onto the ants’ backs.
Ingredients :
Stamps : Bugs and Kisses, so happy for you, birthday bakery, confetti
Card : espresso, white, real red, brights dsp stack
Ink : espresso, real red, versamark
Other : big shot, timeless type alpha, espresso brad, markers

Hope my daughter’s friend likes it!

Think Pink

I was a bit concerned that I’d lost my stamping “mojo” this week but then I saw the challenge at ColourQ and I knew they were my kind of colours and I should give it a try.
image
I also wanted to incorporate these colours into the challenge at SUO challenges which was to use a wheel on your card.  I’ll admit the wheel is very subtle but it really does add to the depth and “prettiness” of the card.

I used Pretty in Pink satin ribbon to make another one of those gorgeous ribbon flowers.  This one turned out quite different from my razzleberry one, I guess every flower is unique! Look here if you'd like to see my other ribbon flower card.
I used my brayer to put crumb cake ink on my vintage wallpaper embossing folder and ran it through the big shot.  I used my square scallop die for the first time too, and of course made a rectangle instead out of blushing bride.(ha!)  I distressed this piece a lot, I sprayed it with shimmer mist and “scrunched” it, flattened it out and then sponged crumb cake on the edges and creases.
I used the very vintage wheel in PIP and then over stamped in crumb cake the thoughts and prayers tree.  I did deviate slightly from the colours by using espresso to stamp the sentiment.
Everything on the card is very sponged and distressed.

Ingredients :
Stamps : Very vintage wheel, thoughts and prayers
Card : pink pirouette, blushing bride, crumb cake, white
Ink : crumb cake, PIP, espresso
Other : PIP satin ribbon, heat gun, sticky strip, circle punch, sponge, brayer, big shot, scallop square, vintage wallpaper, antique brad

I am really happy with how this turned out thanks to two great challenges.

6 Wishes

Well I think if you are in need of 6 year old birthday card ideas, my blog will be the place to come! My youngest daughter has been invited to another party next week and so I went looking for challenge inspiration.

I found another great site called Stacey’s stamping stage and these were the challenge colours. They looked so pretty together and just right for a girly birthday card, so I thought I would give it a try.

I also incorporated these colours into the Stamping 411 sketch challenge for this week.

I decided to use a set which I have been neglecting a bit, For Everything, because I thought the bold colours would suit it. I stamped the flowers with melon mambo and coloured them in with my pink pirouette crayon.  I’ve only just bought the new crayons and I LOVE them!  I also used my new embosslit Beautiful Wings (aren’t they cute). The little bird is cut out and popped up on a dimensional.

I was looking through all my sentiment sets (and I have quite a few!!!) and nothing seemed right and then I remembered the So Happy For You sale-a-bration set I had just gotten.  I had intended to give it away but it was absolutely PERFECT for this card and I just had to use it.  I think I will be using this one a lot!

Ingredients :

Stamps : For Everything, So happy for you

Card : wild wasabi, melon mambo, shimmery white, pink pirouette

Ink : wild wasabi, melon mambo, stazon

Other : big shot, beautiful wings, timeless type junior alpha, pip taffeta ribbon, crayons

Happy hummingbird

Wow another win! My Wish Big card won the challenge at Inkspirations this week.  So I guess I found out which rocket card was better because I entered them both and they chose that one as their winner.  I was told that the 6 year old birthday boy loved his rocket card and the 23 yr old birthday boy is receiving his tonight, I’ll have to let him know how lucky he is to get an award winning card!  Ha Ha!

I am entering this card into the Anything Goes challenge at Paper Players this week.

My club ladies are going to be making this one tomorrow.  The hostess just said that she wanted to make something feminine so I came up with this card that would teach them this great sponged frame technique at the same time. Hope they like it!

Ingredients :

Stamps : elements of style, whimsical words, vintage vogue

Card :  old olive, vanilla

Ink : PIP, olive, marina mist, espresso, choc chip marker

Other :  pearls, sponges, post-its

Wish Big

This is the second male birthday card that I had to make this week.  It is for my eldest daughter’s boyfriend, he is turning 23.  I used the same sketch again from the Inkspirations challenge and the same idea as my Starry Wishes card.  I just changed the background squares.
I am also entering this in the Anything Goes challenge at Paper Players this week.

IMG_0853

I used the Classic Stars wheel this time. I rolled it in versamark and used white embossing powder on shimmery white card.  I then sponged bashful blue, marina mist and daffodil delight over the stars and punched out the squares.
So kinda the same but different.  Please leave a comment and let me know which one you like best.  I’m not sure, I was happy with how both of them turned out.
Ingredients :
Stamps : Pun fun, short and sweet, classic stars wheel
Card : shimmery white, crumb cake, NQN, pumpkin
Ink :  versamark, stazon, olive, pumpkin, daffodil, turquoise, bashful blue, marina mist
Other : white embossing powder, square punch, circle punch, cropadile, sponges, aquapainter

I got some great news too! I am now a Colour Queen Courtier! That just means that my Razzleberry Wishes card got an “honourable mention” at Colour Queen this week.  YAY!!!
