Honey Rosette

At still addINKtive this week we have a colour challenge.

Whenever there is a fifth week in the month we will have either a colour or sketch challenge instead of both.

I am choosing the colours for our challenges from now on and Bronwyn is designing the sketches.  Choosing them is really fun but it will be hard for me not to include pool party or baja breeze in every colour combo!

But look, my first combo and not a blue in sight!

I was asked by my club hostess if I could teach them how to make rosettes.  So I decided to use our colour challenge and this is what I came up with.

It’s my first time making a rosette too but I was happy with how it turned out.  I’m sure we’ll have fun making them together.

There is very little stamping on this card but I used soft suede to stamp the bee from Nature Walk and the sentiment on the tiny tag.  I also stamped the flower image from tiny tags with pink pirouette onto the cotton ribbon.  It is subtle but pretty. Add a variety of punched flowers, a new embossing folder and it’s done.

Ingredients:

Stamps : Tiny tags, Nature Walk

Card : river rock, vanilla, suede, pink pirouette, neutral and subtle dsp stack

Ink : suede, pink pirouette

Other : simply scored, tag punch, circle punches, boho blossoms punch, scallop trim border punch, itty bitty punch, linen thread, cotton ribbon, pearls, metallic brads, antique brad, big shot, honeycomb ef

Please take a look at what the rest of the still addINKtive team have created and make a card using our colours this week :)

Pretty Cute

This week at stilladdINKtive we are featuring 3 of the stamp sets from the new sale-a-bration catalogue.

Patterned Occasions, Pretty Petites and Bloomin' Marvellous

The first sale-a-bration set I chose was Pretty Petites and it has a matching punch too.  You can get these for free with every $100 spend from now until March 22.

I decided to use it with one of the little girl stamps from Greeting Card Kids.

I cut the girl out and cut off the heart she was holding and replaced it with the “happy b-day” Pretty Petite.

I thought they might look cute together.

I also thought she might look cute on top of the cake from Topsy-Turvy Celebration.

I’m thinking maybe a bit too much cute?

My girls thought it was adorable though and there definitely wasn’t too much pink, purple and glitter cuteness as far as they were concerned anyway :)

Ingredients :

Stamps : Pretty Petites, greeting card kids, topsy-turvy celebration

Card : wisteria, white, subtles dsp stack, brights dsp stack

Ink : memento black, wisteria, pip, regal rose, crumb cake

Other : regal rose ribbon (ret.), petite curly label punch, big shot, labels framelits, copics, dazzling details

Bronwyn has designed a template for each of these gorgeous cards and every entrant in our challenge this week will get one template per link sent to them via their email. What a fantastic offer!

Guy’s Celebrate

This week at still addINKtive we have another sketch and colour challenge for you.

I had a guy’s card to make and I thought these colours would work but I made a torn frame around the square instead of using the scallop. I just think it would have looked too “girly”!

I stamped the world and the log in turquoise and crumb cake and then embossed the ship with choc chip over the top.  I also embossed the sentiment flag.

I used the woodgrain embossing folder on crumb cake and wiped the white ink pad over it to highlight the grain.

I made the compass embellishment by stamping on starfruit in choc and then again onto white.  I used a little turquoise marker on the points and punched out circles with different sized punches.  The centre (white circle) was cut by hand though.

Ingredients :

Stamps : perfectly penned, french foliage, the open sea

Card : choc chip, white, crumb cake, starfruit

Ink : choc chip, turquoise, crumb cake, versamark, white

Other : antique brads, circle punches, square punch, clear embossing powder, big shot, wood ef,

Please take a look at what our still addINKtive team have come up with this week and show us what you create using our sketch, colours or both :)

Forever Young and Happy

This week at stilladdINKtive we are featuring the Stampin Up set Forever Young.

This is not a challenge week but we would like you to link up cards that you have made previously using this set and hopefully make a brand new card with it too.

This will be a great resource where people can get inspiration from what others have done with a set. I think it will also inspire us to get out a set that may not have seen ink in a while and use it again.  I know I have a few sets like that because once something brand new arrives I tend to use that instead.

Anyway here is my new Forever Young card :

I really love the tree in this set.  It is so beautiful!

I brayered a background for it.  I used lucky limeade and pool party at the bottom and pip and wisteria at the top.  I don’t know what I’ll do when SU retire wisteria and (especially) pool party, I use them a lot and they make such a pretty brayered sky.  I think I will just have to continue to use them anyway!

Ingredients :

Stamps : Forever Young, Perfectly Penned

Card : white, pool party, espresso

Ink : espresso, limeade, pool party, pip, wisteria, white

Other : big shot, fancy fan ef, delicate designs ef, labels framelits, paper piercing pack, brayer, espresso taffeta ribbon

I hope you’ll take a look at the wonderful creations using Forever Young at still addINKtive.  Link up your past cards, make a new one or if you don’t have it, let us show you how much you truly “need” this gorgeous set :)

First Challenge

Today is our very first challenge at stilladdINKtive. Yay !

Bronwyn has put so much time and effort in behind the scenes to get our new challenge blog up and running. She has done a wonderful job! Thank You Bron. Please take a look and we’d love it if you’d play along with us too.

Each first and third week of the month we will have a sketch and colour challenge for you.  The stilladdINKtive team will be combining them and you can do that too or you can choose just to do the sketch or you may prefer just to take inspiration from our colours.  It’s up to you.

Here is our first challenge :

I used some of my most favourite sets on this card plus a new one which is coming out very soon in the sale-a-bration catalogue.

Ingredients :

Stamps : en francais, field flowers, kindness matters, pretty petites

Card : crumb cake, plum, vanilla, white, watercolour, shimmer white

Ink : baja, wasabi, plum, stazon, crumb cake

Other : petite curly label punch

I used watercolour paper for the butterflies. I used a blender pen with baja and plum ink on the larger one but with the small one I decided to try using plum reinker with an aqua painter instead.  And Wow what a difference in colour.  So it is still plum as the flowers and other butterfly are but it is just so much darker.  Anyway I liked the contrast of it.  It’s great using the watercolour paper with the butterflies because you can lift their wings up really high without damaging them at all.

Please click here to see what our fabulous and very talented stilladdINKtive team have created for this challenge. You will be inspired :)
