2 Penguin Chicks

I have some exciting news to share today :)

I am now on the Design Team at Mo's Digital Pencil. YAY!!!

I have loved Mo's illustrations for a very, very long time. She is such a wonderful artist and I can't wait to colour and create with some of my favourite stamps.

Seeing Christmas decorations in stores over the last couple of weeks really gave me the push I needed to get working on some Christmas cards. There are so many beautiful ones in Mo's store that it was hard to choose but I thought this one was adorable.  It's called 2 Penguin Chicks and I had lots of fun colouring them with my Copics :)

I created the background by sponging and blending some pistachio, peacock feathers, mermaid lagoon and wilted violet Distress Oxide Inks.

Then I placed a star stencil on top of it and dabbed a damp piece of paper towel through each star to give it a "bleached" effect.

The snow they are standing on is just a torn piece of white card and the sentiment was created using the Bold ABC Die from Whimsy Stamps.

It is a Slimline card but a little shorter than usual as I cut the card to fit a random slim envelope I had lying around.

Copics used :

W 1, 3, 5

BG 0000. 01, 09, 11, 15, 72

BV 0000, 000, 00, 02, 04, 08, 13

Wish Big

I have a card to share today using some new goodies I was lucky enough to receive for Christmas.

I had a lovely time playing  with a new stencil from TCW called Fantasy Tile, my new Distress Oxides and a gorgeous Lavinia stamp called Fairytale.

I used Raspberry, Pumpkin, Lemonade, Citron and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Oxides through the stencil in a kind of rainbow pattern on white paper.  But it looked a bit "much" to me :)  So I decided to lightly go over it with Speckled Egg Distress Oxide and then I loved it. :)

I stamped the beautiful fairy stamp over the top and used the Bold ABC die from Whimsy Stamps for the word Big and "wish" was made with some rub on letters onto white card.

The urge to colour or glitter her wings was very strong but I resisted the temptation because I loved the look of the plain black silhouette against the stencilled background.

I'd like to enter my card in the following challenges :

Peace

I used a few animals from Lavinia stamps for this Christmas card and I think they give a real Peace on Earth feel :)

I used the small Reindeer, Pipin and one of the Whimsical Hares.

The background was created using a star stencil, distress ink and a gel press.  I added the grass over the top of this with distress inks.

I die-cut the word using Whimsy Stamp's Bold ABC Die, darkened the edges and did some highlighting with a white gel pen.

I stamped the animals in black, added some highlights and used charcoal to ground them and frame the panel.

I especially love the way the hare looks jumping over the word :)

Joyful Reindeer

I have another Christmas card to share today using Lavinia Stamps small Reindeer and Berry Wreath with Mini Berries.  They are both such beautiful stamps aren't they?! And I decided that I wanted to try a purple and silver colour combo which is beautiful too :)

This time I decided to try making a full wreath and I added the mini berries to it.

I stamped the wreath with Archival Peeled Paint and the berries with Dusty Concord.

I coloured the open berries on the wreath with a silver glitter pen so it is nice and sparkly and shiny and added a few highlights with a white gel pen.

I used Whimsy Stamps Bold ABC die to cut the word Joy from silver card.

Penguin Beach Chair

Hi :)  It's Kathy here and I'm sharing a Christmas card with a difference today for Whimsy Stamps.

My daughter loves to give her teachers Christmas cards with a heartfelt message inside

So I wanted a card for a teacher that said "Merry Christmas, Thanks for everything and Have a great holiday"  all rolled into one.

When I saw Crissy Armstrong's stamp called Penguin Beach Chair, I knew it would be absolutely perfect!!!

I do love snow on Christmas cards, it looks so pretty doesn't it?!  But we don't have snow in Tassie so it's great to be able to make a warm and sunny Christmas card.  Hopefully her teacher gets to laze around in the sunshine like this for the entire holidays.  I'm sure they deserve it  :)

I coloured the cute penguin with Copics and I also used them to make a very simple background.

 Copics used :

E 11, 13, 31, 41, 42, 43, 55
W 00, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9
C 5, 7
BG 000, 09, 10
B 93, 95
R 000, 27,29, 30, 59
Y 15, 26
YR 14. 16. 18

I thought the word "Cheers" was a great sentiment to use with this penguin.
So I used the Bold ABC Die to cut out the letters from white card.
It looks great on this clean and simple card and doesn't detract from the adorable penguin.

I'd like to enter my card into the following challenges :

Penny Black and more challenge - make someone smile
Word art Wednesday - anything goes
Stamping Sensations - get ready for Christmas
