Mambo Dancer

I haven’t played in a Dynamic Duos challenge before but when I saw the colours for this week I just knew it would be perfect for another ballerina card.  I am making a set of these for a friend’s birthday.  I haven’t made many for her yet and it’s only a few weeks away!

I also wanted to play along with The Paper Players this week who are celebrating their 100th challenge.  To play, you get to choose one of their past challenges and I chose no. 79 which was a Clean and Simple challenge with the addition of a Tag.

Vellum style

This week at Just Add Ink the challenge is to Just Add Mother’s Day.

IMG_4158

The main panel is vellum stamped with stazon using a stamp from Elements of Style. I have then attached that over a piece of pink pirouette cardstock.  The butterflies are stamped onto shimmery white and coloured with pip and razzleberry using a blender pen and adhered with glue dots.

We made this card at my club last weekend. I was showing the ladies lots of different ways to use vellum and they liked the cards and enjoyed using it.  But then one of them asked if I had any Mother’s Day sentiments for this card.  So it obviously didn’t look “Mother’s Dayish” enough for her but I hope it passes as one for our JAI challenge anyway :)

Ingredients :

Stamps : Elements of style, oval all, kindness matters

Card : shimmery white, black, pink pirouette, vellum card

Ink : stazon, pip, razzleberry

Other : oval punch, oval scallop punch, brads, blender pen, razzleberry satin ribbon, white pen, big shot, polka dot folder

Please take a look at what the rest of the design team have created this week and show us your Mother’s Day designs.

Triple Z

This is another z-fold card I made using the SAB dsp and my new triple treat flower and punches.

IMG_3533

It has a boho kind of look which doesn’t translate particularly well in a photo unfortunately.  It does look prettier in real life.

I really like the band on this one.  I used the tasteful trim die to cut the border pattern from peach parfait and I did some faux stitching on it too.

Ingredients :

Stamps : oval all, triple treat flower

Card : confetti white, peach parfait, white, everyday enchantment dsp

Ink :  crumb cake, suede

Other : big shot, tasteful trim, beautiful wings, oval punch, 5 petal punch, fancy flower punch, boho punch, everyday enchantment brad, mat pack, white pen

This paper pack is really gorgeous and is free with a $100 order!  Please email me if you’d like to place an order :)

Olive tree

I was a Colour Queen Courtier last week for my giraffe card hurray!!!

I feel very honoured (and excited) when I win a challenge.

Anyway here is this weeks challenge at ColourQ.

Gorgeous colours and again the design team have come up with some really inspirational cards. You should take a look and why not enter the challenge yourself.

Here is my entry:

I had to make another male card this week so I thought I would use the challenge for some inspiration.  They’re always hard for me to make, but I’m quite pleased with how this turned out.

I made it sort of like a little book.  I folded the early espresso card on the side, glued an embossed piece of kiwi kiss to the front and then glued a piece of daffodil delight dsp around the “spine” and attached 2 jumbo brads with the crop a dile through all layers. Then I used my bone folder to score the front and back of the card where the dsp ends.

For the tree I inked it up with espresso and then used a baby wipe to get rid of the ink from the leaves and used an old olive marker on them.  I sponged espresso and crumb cake around the edges of the tree piece and sponged espresso on all other pieces.

The Just for you was stamped in espresso and then the “YOU” is coloured in with an olive marker, but you can’t see it much in the photo unfortunately. Then I sprayed the tree with champagne mist shimmer paint.

Ingredients :

Stamps : Thoughts and prayers, oval all

Card : white, espresso, kiwi kiss, brights stack dsp

Ink : espresso, olive marker, crumb cake

Other : cropadile, jumbo brads, linen thread, dimensionals, oval punch, big shot, square lattice, champagne shimmer mist

I was asked to make this card by a friend who said “Do you make male cards?” and I said “Sure!”  (trying to sound confident even though I don’t feel confident at all when I have to make one).  Anyway I hope I succeeded and she is happy with it.

Razzleberry wishes

I had another win with one of my cards!  The Pretty chocolate for you card won at Stampin’ Celebration this week.  Woohoo!
I was looking for more challenges to do (I have to make the most of my last week of school holidays!) and found this one at Colour Q  which was extremely challenging.

Not colours that I would usually put together.  I’m not sure that I’ve even used Cajun Craze or Peach Parfait yet!  The design team’s cards were gorgeous though, so I needed to give these colours a try.
I also incorporated them into the sketch challenge at Paper Players, so doubly tricky!

This is what I came up with.

This card actually looks much nicer in real life (you’ll have to trust me!)  No matter how many photos I took my camera could not pick up the true colour of the Razzleberry and couldn’t capture the “gorgeousness” of the flower unfortunately.
I found a tutorial on how to make this flower here.  It’s by Kelly Acheson and is just beautiful.  Thanks for the inspiration Kelly.  If you click on the link, she has made hers with Razzleberry ribbon also, yet it looks a completely different colour to my photo(?)

Ingredients :
Stamps : Elements of style, very vintage wheel, oval all
Card : Peach parfait, cajun craze, shimmery white
Ink :  Stazon, razzleberry, river rock, old olive, crumb cake
Other :  razzleberry satin ribbon, aquapainter, pearl, sticky strip, oval punch

Embossed Reinker Spread

The hostess for club this month asked me to teach everyone how to do the Embossed Reinker Spread technique.
They were able to choose between 2 cards, which both used the Fifth Avenue Floral set.
On this one we also used one of my new sets, Oval All.  I think it will get used a lot!!!
Anyway, everyone made beautiful flowers for their cards. They were all unique because everyone used different reinkers and we all had a great afternoon crafting.
