Magical birthday

This card is for my youngest daughter who is turning 6 very soon. It’s sad really ……… she’s growing up way too fast!
I used 2 challenges for this card.  SUO challenges has a birthday card challenge and The Paper Players has another great sketch challenge this week.
This is actually my daughter’s stamp set.  She asked for it for Christmas and has played with it quite a bit, making cards for friends and just making pictures to stick on the fridge.  I have not made anything with it before though, this is my first attempt.
The wings in this set are separate. I stamped and watercoloured the horse and coloured and cut the wings out and then tried to position the wings nicely.  You could just stick them onto the horses back (which is what kids would do if they were making a card) and that looks okay but I decided to use a knife and cut just above the horses back and along the mane a little and then slide the wing into the slot and behind the horse.  This worked really well and looked a lot better I think.  I also put dimensionals under the wing at the top so it is very 3D.  I also used the 2 way glue pen and dazzling diamonds to glitter the hooves and the wing and its all done on shimmery white so very sparkly!  The star border is done by using the classic stars wheel with versamark on shimmery white card, embossing with white and then sponging pip, baja and plum over it.

Ingredients :
Stamps : Pony party, classic stars wheel
Card : shimmery white, pink pirouette, pip
Ink : versamark, stazon, baja, pip, regal rose, perfect plum
Other : big shot, perfect polka dots, window punch, modern label punch, dimensionals, rhinestones, white emboss powder, 2way glue, dazzling diamonds, aquapainter

I know this card will not be to everyone’s taste but I am absolutely certain that my little girl will absolutely love it!

  1. I love this Kathy - the wings on your pony are fab (and the colours are gorgeous too). Thanks for the inspiration, I'll be needing a 5YO card for my 'baby' soon.

  2. What a great card - love what you did with the wings for the unicorn. Your daughter will love the birthday card.

  3. I think this is the PERFECT card for a little gal! I'm sure she is going to love it! Great color combo and I love the shading you added. The glittered wings are a fun touch, along with the sentiment. Love it! Thank for joining us at The Paper Players this week! :)

  4. Kathy.... 6.... what a wonderful age! I hope she has a wonderful birthday. I know she will LOVE what you did with this card. Who wouldn't! I love the stars on the left panel as well as the treatment of the unicorn. It's a gorgeous card!
So glad you joined the Paper Players this week and shared this fabulous creation

  5. This is adorable! The glittery hooves, the glittery wings...a little girl's delight! I love the sponging you did on the side! Cute to the max! Thanks for joining us at The Paper Players!

  6. OMW, this just reminds me of something MY daughter, who is now 28, would have LOVED when she was a little one! So cute! Thanks for playing with the Paper Players this week!

  7. Love this Kathy! I also bought it for my daughter at Christmas but haven't inked it up much--your card has inspired me! Fantastic coloring and dazzling on the pony but my favorite part is the star BG paper--absolutely stellar, my friend! So glad you could join us at The Paper Players again! :-)

  8. Hi Kathy,
