MFT Blueprints 5 - Tag Builder Die-namics tags

I have another post for Anna's Craft Cupboard today featuring the fabulous Blueprints 5 -  Tag Builder Die-namics by My Favorite Things.

There are so many wonderful elements included in this die that I thought I would make a few tags to showcase some of them.

This Tag Builder Die-namic includes a solid tag with a stitched edge that you could use on it's own but I have used it for the back of all of these tags.
It also includes two other tags.  One has a rectangular window with stitching around that (bunny and hippo tag) and the other has a square window with a smaller rectangular opening below it. (house tag)
They also have an opening for string or ribbon to go through and two different types of reinforcements for this.

One of the greatest things about this tag die, in my opinion, are the different ways you can die-cut your sentiments.  You get the fishtail label (bunny), the banner (hippo), the rectangle piece in the square window die (house) and there is a larger fishtail flag too.  They only fit smaller sentiments but there are usually a couple of these in most MFT stamp sets.

There are many other fun parts to this die too such as little hugs and kisses and hearts.
And even the left over parts from "windows" being cut out have stitching around their edges too, so you get lots of useful extras to use on something else :)

I decided to try making a shaker tag from the two window tag.
I've never made one before and I was really happy with how it turned out :)

This is how I made my shaker tag if you'd like to give it a try :)

• I used the solid tag to cut an acetate piece for the shaker front and a back from white card.
• I used the tag with the 2 windows to cut a front from purple card.  I also used it to cut some foam leaving the lower rectangle window in place. Because the sides of the tag are so tiny I thought I would try this instead of using foam mounting tape.  I had never done this before and it was SO much quicker and easier :)  I just used the die to cut it and then glued it to the back tag piece.
• I used the heart confetti die from this set to cut out some hearts in pink and purple and put them inside the shaker window.
• I glued the acetate sheet on top of the foam piece and then glued the purple piece on top of this.
• I cut another of the 2 window tags from white card and stamped the "Be Happy" from the MFT Happy Hippos stamp onto the rectangle window piece. I glued this in place over the foam in the bottom window.
• I stamped the house and heart banner from the MFT Up In The Air set, coloured them with Copics and cut them out. I used glue and glue dots to adhere to tag.
• The birds from the MFT Happy Hippos set were coloured with Copics, cut out and adhered.

I think this might make a nice tag for a new home or housewarming gift or maybe even for a wedding or engagement?

Trumpet Bunny Tag 

Ingredients :

Lawn Fawn Watercolor Wishes paper

MFT Strike Up The Band  (for bunny and sentiment stamp)

MFT Up In The Air (cloud stamp)

white card

On this tag I tried using paper for the top layer rather than cardstock. 

I used the solid tag die to cut a white cardstock back and the light blue paper from the Watercolor Wishes pad and the rectangle window tag die to cut the dark blue paper from the same pad.

It ended up being a lighter tag, but it is still sturdy enough and the papers look beautiful together.

Hippo Tag

Ingredients :

Doodlebug Spring Things Paper

MFT Happy Hippos ( for hippo, hat and sentiment)

white and pink card

I really love the banner die! I have wanted one for a long time, I think they look fantastic. 

I curved the sentiment stamp slightly and stamped it onto white card and then used the die to cut it out.  Then I folded the banner along fold lines and glued them down so that it was fairly flat. You could leave it though if you wanted to and then the banner would have more height.

Making these tags has been so much fun!!!

They are a great way to use up all those little bits of card and paper you have saved.

And they're a great way to use those extra stamps you've coloured and then done nothing with too.

When I was making my hippo cards last month I had coloured this hippo and the birds I used on the house tag and cut them out but then decided not to use them.  I actually just put them in the plastic sleeve the stamps come in for safe keeping and they were there ready and waiting to be used :)

I LOVE the Blueprints 5 Tag Builder Die-namics.  It's perfect!

I can't wait to make some more for Christmas presents :)

Strike Up the Band Thanks

This weekend there is a Cyber Crop happening over on the Anna's Craft Cupboard Facebook Page.

There are lots of different challenges around the theme of "Warm and Cosy".

I decided to challenge everyone to create a Thank You card to warm someone's heart.

Thank You cards are often full of flowers but they don't have to be!

My daughter asked me if I could make her a Thank You card to give to her music teacher so I just had to use the sensational MFT set called Strike Up the Band again :)

I created the background by stamping 3 of the bunnies with versafine black ink onto Kraft card.

I coloured the main bunny with copics and cut him out with the coordinating die.
I white embossed the music notes onto black card and used the grass from the Spring Scene Builder die to cut the key lime card.

The "Thanks" is cut from the Doodlebug Spring Things - Springtime Dots paper.

Strike 2

I have another card for Anna's Craft Cupboard to share using the MFT Strike Up The Band stamp set.

I do Love these bunnies!  They are just so cute aren’t they?!

This time I’ve teamed them with papers from the Doodlebug Designs Spring Things range.

I thought this stripe from the Frog Friends paper was gorgeous and so I coloured the bunnies to coordinate with it.

Then I cut them out using the Strike Up the Band Die-namics die and mounted on foam mounting squares for some added dimension.

There are so many wonderful sentiments that come with the bunnies but I decided to cut the Happy Birthday Sentiment from the Baby Blooms paper.  I attached this at a slight angle so that the bunnies are walking downhill and it gave the card a little extra “something”. 

I always adhere my card and papers with Mono Multi Liquid Glue.  It is very easy to use and stays put.  You also have some wriggle time if you need to change something.

I also used the coordinating Doodlebug matte sprinkles - dots.  I’ve never used matt dots before and I think they look fantastic!  I will definitely be getting more. Love them!

The green matt is American Crafts Key Lime card .

And I used the Kaisercraft C6 white card for the base and rounded the bottom corners.

I also cut another of the C6 cards to make the panel the bunnies are marching on.  Just so it would be the same colour white card.

Strike Up The Band

I have some exciting news to share!!!

I am now designing for Anna's Craft Cupboard! :)

I got to play with the adorable stamp set Strike Up The Band by My Favourite Things.  How lucky am I?!!!

I just LOVE this set SO much!!!  These bunnies are super cute and so fun to colour and play around with. The set comes with lots of fabulous sentiments and they can be used for so many different occasions.

I also used the MFT Strike Up The Band Die-namics Die which makes things so much quicker and easier when you have a lot of images to cut out.

I wanted to make giving a gift card a bit more special, so I made this Pop Up Gift Card Holder.

These are the instructions if you’d like to give it a try J

• ·         I used a Kaisercraft C6 Kraft Card as the base.
• ·         Cut 2 pieces of paper 15 x 10.5cm and attach to inside of card.  I’ve used gorgeous papers from the Bella Blvd Oh My Stars range. I used white on the bottom section so that I could write a sentiment there. (I used a piece cut from a Kaisercraft C6 white card.)

• ·         Cut 2 pieces of paper 4 x 5.5” and score at 1,2 and 3” on the short side.
• ·         Apply strong adhesive tape on the 1” sections on the correct side of the paper at the top and bottom of one piece.

• ·         Attach this scored piece to inside of card aligning at centre score line. (Mine is attached to bottom of dark star piece)

• ·         You are folding this over and around to make a little “step”.

• ·        Align other end of scored piece at centre of card base and adhere to other half of card. (Mine is attached to top of white piece).

• This is how it should look from the side.

·       

•     On the second piece of paper, only attach approx. 2cm of tape at top and bottom of one edge. And then attach tape to top and bottom of other edge as in previous piece.

• ·         Attach this scored paper (the edge with the 2cm tape on it) to the front of first attached piece aligning at base.

• ·         Then fold over and align end of scored piece at base and adhere to card base. (Making a second “step” which is attached to the first).

       The gift card slots in between the 2 steps.

  

The pop up holder is now complete and ready to decorate J

I coloured the rabbits and used the dies to cut them out.

This is such a time saver and they look neater too!!!

And for the rabbits on the inside of the card I cut out an extra rabbit shape from white card and attached it to the back of the coloured bunnies.  It looks neater and gives them a little extra strength and support to stand up smartly.

The inside sentiment is a stamp from the Strike Up The Band set and so are the drum and trumpet.

The card does end up being a little bulky because of the gift card and all the fun stuff happening on the inside of it J.  So it is best to tie it closed somehow.  You could tie a nice bow with ribbon or use a belly band but I’ve just tied mine with some twine.
