Kitty with Butterfly

I truly can't believe it's May already, but it is!
And that means it's time for a new stamp release at CC Designs too :)

I have a sneak peek of a new stamp for you.
This is Kitty With Butterfly, a Rustic Sugar design.
They are very sweet aren't they?!

I decided to create a little scene.
I used the Circles #1 Die to make the sun and then used some distress inks on watercolour paper to make some colourful rays.  I splashed some water on them and added a few droplets of Glossy Accents too for a little added dimension.
Then I used the Make a card #11 Die to cut a grassy slope for them to play on.

The sentiment is from an older CC Designs set called Happy Day. It's not available any more, so count yourself  lucky if you have this one! :)  I just thought it went perfectly with this cute image and had to use it!

I'd like to enter my card in the following challenges :

Simon Says : The great outdoors
Word Art Wednesday : anything goes
Simon Says Stamp : anything goes

There are some more sneak peeks over on the blog and please come back again tomorrow for the new release blog hop.

Thanks for dropping by today :)

Beach Ball Birgitta

It's new release preview time at CC Designs and I have made a card with a gorgeous new stamp called Beach Ball Birgitta.  She's so very cute isn't she!

cc designs, beach ball Birgitta, happy day, heart border die

It's not exactly beach weather here, we're heading for a top temperature of 15 degrees C. and it's raining too :(  But it has been lovely colouring her and making a beach card and dreaming of sunshiny days :)

To make the scene, I brayered pool party and tempting turquoise inks onto white card for the water. The waves are made using the CC Designs Cutters Heart Border Die.  Hopefully they look like waves anyway, pretty heart waves. And I used cork paper for the sand.

I coloured her with copics and used glossy accents on her sunglasses.

The sentiment is from the Happy Day set.

The Design Team are highlighting the new CC Designs images for June today so please head over to the CC Designs Blog to check out their fabulous cards using this and other new images.  And you could also win a voucher to spend in the store :)

Ingredients :
Stamps : Beach Ball Birgitta,  Happy Day
Card : x-press it, crumb cake, cork paper, pool party, silver glimmer paper, Uncharted Waters (Glitz)
Ink : memento black, pool party, tempting turquoise
Other :  CC Designs Cutters Heart Border Die, subtles dots, glossy accents, brayer, copics

Tilda with Daisy-Mae the Tiger

I have a card for Bunny Zoe's Crafts to share with you today :)
I have used a Magnolia stamp called Tilda with Daisy-Mae the Tiger.
They are very sweet aren't they!

magnolia, tilda with daisy-mae the tiger

I have also used a new sentiment set by CC Designs called Happy Day and it's a great set.  The paper is Sweet Pea by Kaisercraft.  I have loved this sheet ever since I got the paper but it was too big for a card and I couldn't figure out a good way to use it.  Then I saw the great sketch at Sketch Saturday this week and realised that I could cut it into squares as they have done in the sketch and keep the nice border of flowers all around the card.  Yay!  I also used some flat-backed pearls and a Prima tea-thyme button.

Ingredients :
Stamps : Tilda with Daisy-Mae the TigerHappy Day
Card : x-press it, black, crumb cake, Sweet Pea (Kaisercraft)
Ink : memento black, antique linen distress ink
Other : pierced oval stax (MFT), hemp thread,  flat-backed pearls, Prima tea-thyme button, Copics

Copics used :

W 00, 1, 7, 9
YR 14, 16, 18

Flower Pots Lucy and Ray Tutorial

This is my first tutorial for CC Designs :)

I made this card using the adorable Flower Pots Lucy.  I coloured her with copics and then decided to make a ray background in colours to match.  So I thought I would show you how I made the background.

flower pots lucy, cc designs, ray tutorial

I used a piece of white card 10x10cm, sponges,  grid paper, large post it notes and two distress ink pads : Broken China and Dusty Concord.

I like to use grid paper because it makes this process quick and easy, but you can of course measure with a ruler instead or just "eye-ball it" if you're game :) My grid paper is in centimetres but it is easy to adjust it to a quarter or half inch grid.  I just place the white card down on the grid paper and I put the post it note on the half way mark at the bottom (5cm) and up 2cm on the side.

I then sponged on some Broken China Distress Ink. I always dab off some on the grid paper before starting each segment and I always start at the bottom of the paper.  I use a swirling kind of motion starting on the post-it and then off and up towards the next segment (fading out).  Then, with a different sponge, I used Dusty Concord Distress Ink and after dabbing off again I sponge along the line of the post-it only, with a back and forth motion.

I then move my post-it note around the card repeating the sponging in the same way. Always having the post-it on the half way mark at the bottom.
For this card I went up 2cm, 3cm, 4cm, then up 1cm and across the top 3cm, across 4cm and then mirrored that on the way back down the other side.  I like to change the post-it note when I get half way around, otherwise the sponging gets progressively darker.  When you've finished, your first ray on the left side will still be white and I just went back and sponged more of the blue there and also sponged it along the edge of all sides of the card. The middle looks "yucky" but you always cover that bit up with your main image or grass or something.

This is a close up of the card when I was done, hopefully you can see the pretty combination of colours on the rays better. For the grass I simply tore a piece of green card and sponged the top with green ink. Then I stamped the get well sentiment from the new Happy Day set on to it.

This is another set of rays using the same colours but using different measurements.  You can create lots of different looks with the same basic technique.

Copics used :
E 000, 00, 50, 53, 55
YG 0000, 01, 03, 95
BV 0000, 00
R 30
C 1
B 93, 95, 97

I hope I've inspired you to give this background a try :)

New Baby

I have a card for Bunny Zoe's Crafts to share today.
I've used a gorgeous new Whimsy Stamp by Sylvia Zet called New Baby.
And isn't it adorable!

new baby, whimsy stamps, sylvia zet, happy day, cc designs
I also used the new Happy Day sentiment set by CC Designs.  I think this worked really well with the image.  It's cute and it meant the card could be used for a new baby or for a baby shower or when someone announces they're having a baby.  I have had a few occasions to make cards for people at work who are going on maternity leave and I like to give them something then, but don't know the happy details yet. This card would be perfect for that.

The papers are from a Crate Paper pad called Little Bo Peep and I also used the Magnolia Tilda Lace die.
I used a gem and a Prima Sun Kissed Button.

Ingredients :
Stamps : New BabyHappy Day
Card : black, x-press it,  Little Bo Peep (Crate paper)
Ink : memento black
Other : pierced oval stax (MFT),  Magnolia Tilda Lace diegemPrima Sun Kissed Button, gold spica, copics

Today we are previewing CC Designs images and I have chosen to use Watering Can Heidi.
Isn't she gorgeous!

I also used a new sentiment set called Happy Day.  The little butterfly is from another new set called Garden Doodads. It is actually a set designed to be used with nuggets candy and kisses but I thought the little butterfly would look great with Heidi.  I just stamped it onto some patterned paper and cut it out.

So I have used lots of new goodies on this card along with some extremely old paper that I've been hoarding :)

Please hop over to the CC Designs blog to see what the rest of the design team have created and see even more new products.  The May release can be purchased at CC Designs from the first of May.
