Life is like a balloon card

I have a card to share today using Life is like a balloon by Mo's Digital Pencil.

This is such a great stamp set, it actually includes a dog with balloons and a sentiment too. I've used the whole set before on an art journal page but this time I decided to make a card with just the girl.

I coloured her with my Copics and then I created the cloud background in a different way to what I generally do.  I used a light blue copic marker to colour a sky but did it in a "rough" swirly way, not bothering about trying to blend it smoothly or evenly.  Then I used a darker blue Distress Oxide ink with a cloud die.  Finally I drew along the top edge of the clouds with a white gel pen and smudged it a little.  I was really happy with how the sky looks :)

At the bottom of the card I blended some Pistachio Distress Oxide ink and also added it to the bottom of some grass I die cut.

Copics Used :

B 0000, 00, 02, 21, 23, 24

R 20, 22, 27, 29

YR 18

Y 13, 15

E 000, 00, 21, 41, 42, 43, 44

Rose with Balloon

I have a tutorial for CC Designs today.

I coloured up the adorable Rose with Balloon stamp with my copics and then I thought I might try creating a Bokeh effect, but with balloons rather than the usual circles. This stamp's matching die comes with two different sized balloons which is exactly what you need to make this effect work. It turned out to be a really pretty background for her so I thought I'd share how I did it.

CC Designs, tutorial, rose with balloon

Firstly I sponged 3 different colours of distress ink on to a shimmery cardstock (Broken china, salty ocean and tumbled glass).

Then I used the Rose and Balloon Outline die to cut out the 2 balloons from a piece of scrap card.

IMG_0786

I then used this as my stencil. I used a dauber and a white craft ink pad to make the balloons.

IMG_0788

Sponge white ink onto the blue, using a dabbing motion. These balloon will be in the background.  I also tilted the stencil so that the balloons weren't all going in the same direction.

Then add more balloons, overlapping some.  These are in the foreground.  We want these to be whiter so more ink needs to be dabbed on.  You can move the stencil, making more balloons and then come back later, reposition the stencil, and add more white to certain balloons to make them more prominent.

I hope you give this background technique a try :)

I have a card for Bunny Zoe's Crafts to show you today.
I used a beautiful new stamp from Wild Rose Studio called Bluebell With Basket.  I love Bluebell, she's so pretty isn't she!

The sentiment is from a new clear stamp set by Whimsy Stamps called Simple Sentiments.
The paper is from a pad by Crate Paper called Little Bo Peep.  I inked the edges of it with antique linen distress ink and did some sewing on it too.
The grass was made using the MFT Grassy Edges Die and I added a pretty Pink Button.
I coloured the image with my copics and added a little star dust stickles to the flower centres.

Tilda With Fantasy Flower

I have a card for Bunny Zoe Crafts to show you today.
I've used a Magnolia stamp called Tilda with Fantasy Flower.  She's very sweet isn't she!
You could use her for lots of occasions but I have run out of Thank You cards and I thought she would work perfectly on one.

magnolia, tilda, fantasy flower

The sentiment is a new one from Whimsy Stamps called Definitions Notables 7.  It's out of stock at the moment but just email Nikki and I'm sure she will get more in for you. It's a great sentiment set.

The beautiful blue papers are from a lovely pad by Echo Park called Head Over Heels.  I used the Magnolia Tilda Lace Die and the MFT Grassy Edges Die. And I also used star dust stickles, round gems and a Prima Tea-Thyme button.
Oh and my Copics of course :)

A circle of friends

Welcome to our Circle of Friends blog hop especially for our dear DT member and friend Bev Rochester
Unfortunately, Bev has had to take a little break from crafting over the past few months due to ill health. We are missing her here at Whimsy and want to let her know that we are thinking about her and wishing her a speedy recovery. Even though the Whimsy family is scattered all around the world, we have come together as a circle of friends to show Bev our love and support by each making her a card. Although this hop is for Bev, we do hope you will hop along with us to support our wonderful teammate and friend. If you arrived here from Jacque Beddingfield’s blog, then you are in the right place! If you’ve happened upon this post by chance and would like to hop with us, hop on over to the Whimsy Stamps blog to begin the hop.

I wanted to make Bev something bright and happy that will hopefully make her smile.

I decided to use the beautiful Beau and Bashful stamp by Sylvia Zet again.  I decided to just use Beau though, so I coloured him with my brightest copics, added some sparkle to his horn and cut him out.  I wanted a sentiment about making someone’s day brighter and I didn’t have one so I just printed this up myself and sponged a cloudy sky over the top of it.

I know it would make a great Get Well card for a little girl but I’m really hoping that a big girl like Bev will appreciate it too :)

I hope it did brighten your day a little Bev and I hope you start feeling much better really soon.

Ingredients :
Stamps : Beau and Bashful
Card : x-press it, celery, limeaid
Ink : pool party, memento black
Other : big shot, grassy edges die (MFT), kindy glitz, pearl pen, Romantic Rectangles (spellbinders), copics

copics used:
RV 21, 23, 25, 63, 66, 69
YG 0000, 01, 03
Y 11, 13, 15
BV 04, 08
R 30
C 1
W 3, 5, 7
BG 10
B 0000, 00, 02, 04

So now it's time for you to hop over to ... Debbie Eastman’s Blog.
Finally, here is a full hop list in hopping order:

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Happy Deer

I had fun looking at the new September release at Kraftin’ Kimmie a couple of weeks ago.  Their design team had made some wonderful cards so I left them some comments and I was VERY lucky and won this set called Joyful Holiday.  It arrived this week and I decided to make a card with it straight away.  There are actually 3 really cute stamps with sayings in the set but this one is my favourite.  Isn’t she cute!  And I LOVE the sentiment that goes with her :)
