Violin Birthday

After violin lessons this week, my daughter came home a bit upset because it was her teacher’s birthday and we didn’t have anything for her. Her teacher didn’t tell us it was her birthday and it was a big one – 80!  She’s an amazing lady, still teaching kids violin and playing in orchestras herself.

Well anyway, I had only just bought this stamp of a little violin girl.  I thought it would be cute to put on some cards for her at some stage.  I just didn’t realise how soon I’d need them.  I’m so glad I bought her when I did!

This is the birthday card I made for her.

I used this week’s sketch at Freshly Made Sketches for my inspiration.  I’ll admit I had a bit of trouble with this sketch at first.  I kept trying to put ribbon where the horizontal line on the sketch is and tried turning the sketch too but I wasn’t happy with it.  But I finally thought to have the sentiment in that spot instead of ribbon and turned it into a square card – and it worked. Yay!

I have decided to make my daughter’s teacher a series of cards all using this violin girl stamp but in different colours and designs.  She does appreciate my cards and I think this will be a useful gift. I don’t have time to make many for her though unfortunately. Perhaps I could make her some more during the year?

Ingredients :

Stamps :  Violin Girl (MFT), Perfectly Penned

Card : black, textured basic grey, neutral dsp stack, x-press it

Ink : memento black, stazon

Other : rhinestones, nesties, big shot, copics

I will post some of the cards I make for her over the next few days.
