Wheelbarrow Marci

I have a card for Bunny Zoe's Crafts to share today and I got to use a La La Land stamp for the first time.  Her name is Wheelbarrow Marci and I think she's gorgeous and she was lots of fun to colour :)  This sentiment, plus another, are included with her too which is a bonus.

wheelbarrow marci, la la land crafts, fleur de lis accents spellbinders

The paper is by Magnolia and is called Vintage Forget Me Not.  It is truly beautiful, it actually looks textured because of the background pattern on it.
The corner die is from a Spellbinders set called Fleur de lis accents and I sponged it and the papers with antique linen distress ink.
I also used some light blue web ribbon and an ice storm button.

Ingredients :

Stamps : Wheelbarrow Marci

Cheers

Today I am participating in Day 5, the last day of the Whimsy Stamps New Release Blog Hop. Today we are showcasing stamps by Time For Tea Designs and Elisabeth Bell.

I chose this stamp called Cheers by Time For Tea Designs.  My niece is turning 21 in a couple of weeks and I knew this stamp would be perfect for a 21st card (and this girl even looks like her :)  Hopefully she likes it.

Time for Tea, whimsy stamps, cheers, cocktail glass die

The sentiment comes with the image and there is also a "Cheers" sentiment too.  This one fits perfectly on the Treasured Moments Tickets stamp set, which was a happy discovery. I used a new Whimsy die too called the Cocktail Glass Die Set. I cut a glass out of acetate and put the ticket behind it, trying to give the impression that the ticket was inside the empty glass.  This card does look a bit nicer in real life, as the gold shoes, drink and top of her dress are all done with a gold spica pen which is nice and sparkly but it hasn't photographed that way unfortunately. You'll just have to trust me ;)

Ingredients :
Stamps : CheersTreasured Moments Tickets
Card : x-press it, black, gold, acetate, Capture Life (Echo Park)
Ink : memento black, Brilliance pearlescent purple, antique linen distress ink
Other : Cocktail Glass Die Set, timeless type alphabet (sizzix), rhinestones, gold spica, copics

Tilda with Daisy-Mae the Tiger

I have a card for Bunny Zoe's Crafts to share with you today :)
I have used a Magnolia stamp called Tilda with Daisy-Mae the Tiger.
They are very sweet aren't they!

magnolia, tilda with daisy-mae the tiger

I have also used a new sentiment set by CC Designs called Happy Day and it's a great set.  The paper is Sweet Pea by Kaisercraft.  I have loved this sheet ever since I got the paper but it was too big for a card and I couldn't figure out a good way to use it.  Then I saw the great sketch at Sketch Saturday this week and realised that I could cut it into squares as they have done in the sketch and keep the nice border of flowers all around the card.  Yay!  I also used some flat-backed pearls and a Prima tea-thyme button.

Ingredients :
Stamps : Tilda with Daisy-Mae the TigerHappy Day
Card : x-press it, black, crumb cake, Sweet Pea (Kaisercraft)
Ink : memento black, antique linen distress ink
Other : pierced oval stax (MFT), hemp thread,  flat-backed pearls, Prima tea-thyme button, Copics

Mini Chalkboards

I have another card for Whimsy Stamps today.  This one is using the sentiment set Mini Chalkboards by SC Designs.

Mini Chalkboards, whimsy stamps

I stamped the sentiment onto espresso card stock with a versamark pad and embossed it with white embossing powder.  I then smudges some white ink in places too, made it into a tag and distressed the edges.

I used some old scraps of designer paper to create a quilt background and used distress inks on the edges of it and the embossed background panel.

The beautiful flower was a generous gift from someone associated with Whimsy Stamps.  Each Design Team member got a gorgeous selection of flowers and ribbons from a special someone who wanted to remain anonymous.  It was such a wonderful gift to receive!  It's a shame that I can't thank that someone personally, but hopefully she might read my blog post and know how much I loved and appreciated it.  Thank You SO much :)

Flower Pots Lucy and Ray Tutorial

This is my first tutorial for CC Designs :)

I made this card using the adorable Flower Pots Lucy.  I coloured her with copics and then decided to make a ray background in colours to match.  So I thought I would show you how I made the background.

flower pots lucy, cc designs, ray tutorial

I used a piece of white card 10x10cm, sponges,  grid paper, large post it notes and two distress ink pads : Broken China and Dusty Concord.

I like to use grid paper because it makes this process quick and easy, but you can of course measure with a ruler instead or just "eye-ball it" if you're game :) My grid paper is in centimetres but it is easy to adjust it to a quarter or half inch grid.  I just place the white card down on the grid paper and I put the post it note on the half way mark at the bottom (5cm) and up 2cm on the side.

I then sponged on some Broken China Distress Ink. I always dab off some on the grid paper before starting each segment and I always start at the bottom of the paper.  I use a swirling kind of motion starting on the post-it and then off and up towards the next segment (fading out).  Then, with a different sponge, I used Dusty Concord Distress Ink and after dabbing off again I sponge along the line of the post-it only, with a back and forth motion.

I then move my post-it note around the card repeating the sponging in the same way. Always having the post-it on the half way mark at the bottom.
For this card I went up 2cm, 3cm, 4cm, then up 1cm and across the top 3cm, across 4cm and then mirrored that on the way back down the other side.  I like to change the post-it note when I get half way around, otherwise the sponging gets progressively darker.  When you've finished, your first ray on the left side will still be white and I just went back and sponged more of the blue there and also sponged it along the edge of all sides of the card. The middle looks "yucky" but you always cover that bit up with your main image or grass or something.

This is a close up of the card when I was done, hopefully you can see the pretty combination of colours on the rays better. For the grass I simply tore a piece of green card and sponged the top with green ink. Then I stamped the get well sentiment from the new Happy Day set on to it.

This is another set of rays using the same colours but using different measurements.  You can create lots of different looks with the same basic technique.

Bride

It's challenge time again at Bunny Zoe's Crafts blog and the challenge this month is Flowers and Charms.

I decided to use this sweet stamp by Magnolia called DooBeePops Bride Tilda.  As you can see there isn't much colouring to do on her so it was a fairly quick and easy card to make.  I just coloured her a bit with my copics and added some Star Dust Stickles to her veil and tiara. I also added a Flat backed pearl and then cut her out and trimmed the sides off a bit to fit inside the gorgeous  Window die by Marianne D.

I added some Kaisercraft Paper Blooms - Coconut to the window ledge and added a Crafted Heart Charm to the top. The pink paper is from the lovely  Head Over Heels pad by Echo Park and I also added some gorgeous Silk Lace  ribbon by Marianne D.

I hope you'll join in our challenge this month :)

New Baby

I have a card for Bunny Zoe's Crafts to share today.
I've used a gorgeous new Whimsy Stamp by Sylvia Zet called New Baby.
And isn't it adorable!

new baby, whimsy stamps, sylvia zet, happy day, cc designs
I also used the new Happy Day sentiment set by CC Designs.  I think this worked really well with the image.  It's cute and it meant the card could be used for a new baby or for a baby shower or when someone announces they're having a baby.  I have had a few occasions to make cards for people at work who are going on maternity leave and I like to give them something then, but don't know the happy details yet. This card would be perfect for that.

The papers are from a Crate Paper pad called Little Bo Peep and I also used the Magnolia Tilda Lace die.
I used a gem and a Prima Sun Kissed Button.

Ingredients :
Stamps : New BabyHappy Day
Card : black, x-press it,  Little Bo Peep (Crate paper)

Pretty Petals

It's time for the new monthly challenge at Whimsy Stamps.  It's really hard for me to believe that it's May already, I feel like the year has only just begun!  But anyway our challenge this month is Sparkles.

I decided to use this gorgeous image by Jo Davies of Time for Tea Designs called Pretty Petals.

Pretty Petals, whimsy stamps, time for tea, garden flowers die, girl talk

I also used the new garden flowers die set with glimmer paper to get the sparkle and I added some star dust stickles to the centre of her flower too.  The sentiment is from a new set by SC Designs called Girl Talk.

Ingredients :
Stamps : Pretty PetalsGirl Talk
Card : x-press it, espresso, crumb cake, Persimmon (Basic Grey), glimmer paper
Ink : memento black, espresso, white, antique linen DI
Other : star dust stickles, garden flowers die, corner dies set, pearls, copics
