This week at still addINKtive we have a sketch and colour challenge for you.
You might choose to do them both but you can just choose the colours or just the sketch. Whatever you get inspiration from!
I decided to use the 2 newest editions to my stamp shelf, Vintage Verses and By the Seashore.
I was looking at cards made with the Seashore set and came across a great tutorial by Sharon Field for a technique called Faux Cheesecloth. She even used bashful blue in one of her samples and I just had to give it a try. It looks like netting (or cheesecloth) and is super easy yet very effective.
All the stamping on this card is clear embossed espresso. The middle shell is stamped onto crumb cake but the other two are stamped onto vanilla. I sponged a little crumb cake onto the shells, added a few white pen highlights and cut them out.
Ingredients :
Stamps : By the Seashore, Vintage Verses, woodgrain
Card : vanilla, crumb cake, white, bashful blue, espresso, first edition dsp
Ink : espresso, crumb cake, versamark
Other : big shot, top note, labels framelit, clear embossing powder, white embossing powder, linen thread
The design team have created some really beautiful cards again this week. I hope you’ll take a look and play along with us.
Kathy
Love your card and it has inspired me to try that technique which I haven't seen before, it goes so well with the shell stamped images. Must try to catch up soon for a coffee! ♥
ReplyDeleteWow, this is fabulous Kathy! I love the vintage feel you have created with the combination of images, sentiment & the newsprint background. Your design & the colours are perfect for each other! The netting looks great behind your shells too - TFS the links. :)
ReplyDeleteI have been wondering how you did that netting - like background and now I know! It works so well with a beach/aquatic themed card! What I love about your card is it is solo pretty and yet doesn't require extra postage to mail (at least in the USA).
ReplyDeleteI love the newsprint background Kathy and the Faux Cheesecloth goes great with the shells. TFS the links to the Faux Cheesecloth.
ReplyDeleteSuper how you combined these 2 stamp set together. I would have never thought of the combination! Love the shells!
ReplyDeleteKathy, I love your cards! whaouh ;)
ReplyDeleteThis is another drop dead gorgeous card of yours. Thanks so much for the link to a 'new' technique - must give it a go as it is perfect for this stamp set (Must ink mine up soon :) A stunning combo of stamps and DSP for that 'vintage' feel.
